YG Entertainment to hold a large-scale global audition in five countries
On May 16, YG Entertainment announced, “2012 YG Global Audition will be held in the major cities of U.K., Germany, U.S., Canada, and Japan. It will be the largest audition held by YG Entertainment.”
As CEO Yang Hyun Suk said on SBS TV’s audition program K-Pop Star, YG Entertainment tries to maximize its trainees’ individuality and strength and make up for their week points.
Such know-how of YG Entertainment helped to make such global artists as Big Bang and 2NE1 succeed in the world music scene. Big Bang received World Wide Act at EMA as the first Asian singing group and 2NE1 received Best New Band In the World at MTV IGGY.
A video of YG’s new girl group received over a million hits in only two days only because they were YG’s new girl group.
YG Entertainment says, “People from various different countries are inquiring about how to become a trainee of YG. YG hopes many people apply for the audition regardless of nationality as long as they want to show their dreams, talent, and passion.”
The global audition will be held in each country first, and then only some successful applicants will come to Korea for the final audition. In addition to the countries mentioned above, YG’s planning to hold more auditions in other countries.
