NewJeans' song "ETA" has seen a dramatic resurgence in streaming numbers on Spotify, despite being released over a year ago.

On October 5, Spotify reported that "ETA," one of the triple title tracks from NewJeans' second EP Get Up, recorded 738,650 streams on October 3. This is more than double the number of streams it had on September 29, when it garnered around 320,000 plays. The sudden increase in streams for "ETA," a song that is not a new release, is unusual and defies the typical pattern of gradual decline over time.

Throughout September, the song's daily streams averaged between 300,000 and 350,000. However, the numbers began to climb at the end of the month, reaching 420,000 streams on September 30, 560,000 on October 1, and then 660,000 on October 2 before hitting over 730,000 on October 3.

This spike in popularity can be attributed in part to global digital creators, including popular YouTubers and streamers, who have featured "ETA" in their content. Specifically, Jason, a well-known American streamer, played "ETA" multiple times during a live Twitch stream on September 30 to celebrate reaching 100,000 subscribers. Clips from this stream were shared widely on platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), sparking renewed interest in the song. The song's viral spread on short-form video platforms like TikTok also led to a resurgence of the "ETA" dance challenge.

According to Google Trends, searches for "NewJeans ETA" skyrocketed globally after September 30, with interest increasing three to four times. This interest was widespread, spanning regions including the U.S., Canada, Asia, Europe, South America, and Oceania.

As a result, "ETA" reached the No. 1 spot in the K-pop genre on Apple Music in the U.S., standing out especially because the songs ranked second and third were new releases. The song also continues to perform well on domestic charts like Melon, where it remains in the top ranks.
