Jimin's 'Who' Earns Platinum in Canada
BTS Jimin's 'Who' Earns Platinum in Canada – First K-pop Soloist with Two Certifications
BTS's Jimin has added another milestone to his record-breaking solo career with his second album title track, Who, achieving Platinum certification in Canada.
On January 17, Jimin's Who received a Platinum Single Certification from Music Canada (formerly the Canadian Recording Industry Association, CRIA). Released on July 19 of last year, the track earned the certification just six months after surpassing 80,000 units sold. Music Canada's certifications are based on combined sales, including digital downloads, streaming figures, and physical single sales. For singles, certifications are categorized as Gold (40,000 units), Platinum (80,000 units), and Double Platinum (160,000 units).
Previously, Jimin received Platinum certification for Like Crazy, the title track of his first solo album FACE. This marked the first Platinum certification for a Korean solo song since Psy's Gangnam Style. With Who also earning Platinum recognition, Jimin becomes the first and only Korean artist to achieve multiple Platinum certifications in Canada for solo tracks without collaborations.
Furthermore, Like Crazy and Who have collectively sold over two million units in the United States, earning Jimin Double Platinum Certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This makes Jimin the first and only K-pop soloist in history to hold Double Platinum status for two tracks in the U.S.
Who also made history in the UK. In November 2024, it surpassed 200,000 units in sales, earning a Silver Certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). This milestone makes Jimin the fastest K-pop soloist to achieve Silver Certification in the UK, further solidifying his immense popularity in Western markets.
Jimin continues to break records and lead the global success of K-pop as a soloist, demonstrating his immense influence and talent.
