Kim Yong-jun, Misunderstood as Married After a Decade-Long Romance—Hwang Jung-eum Feels the Same After Returning as a Divorcee

Kim Yong-jun appeared on the February 11th episode of the SBS variety show Shoes Off, DolSing Fourmen (DolSing Fourmen). During the broadcast, it was revealed that before filming, he had described himself as "completely new and never married." Addressing this, Kim Yong-jun said, "Some people mistakenly think I’m divorced," adding, "Older people assume I’ve been married or even have kids."

Lee Sang-min joked, "You just give off that vibe—like you’d have kids and be a struggling dad," while Jung Young-joo added, "You have a strange sense of stability. You seem like you'd have a wife and kids." In response, Kim Yong-jun laughed and promised, "I’ll try to look as unstable as possible."

When asked by Lee Sang-min whether he could remain friends with an ex, Kim Yong-jun replied, "I don’t currently have any friendships with exes, but if the situation allowed it, I think it would be possible. I’m open to it." When asked if he tends to stay in relationships until he no longer has feelings for the person, he said, "Yes, I date until it feels completely over. I make sure to have no lingering regrets when I break up."

His comments inevitably brought to mind his former girlfriend, Hwang Jung-eum, with whom he had a 10-year relationship and even appeared in a reality marriage show. Hwang Jung-eum shares a similar mindset. Recently, on SBS Plus’s Because I’m Single, Shin Dong-yup mentioned Kim Yong-jun and playfully referenced their past appearance on We Got Married, saying, "I couldn’t help but glance at Hwang Jung-eum. You were so sincere in that show." She responded, "I was completely devoted and have no regrets. I never look back on the past," mirroring Kim Yong-jun's sentiment.

Kim Yong-jun and Hwang Jung-eum publicly confirmed their relationship in 2006 and participated in MBC’s We Got Married, showcasing their virtual marriage to the entire nation. However, they eventually parted ways in 2015. Hwang Jung-eum later married professional golfer Lee Young-don but is currently undergoing divorce proceedings, while Kim Yong-jun remains single.
