BLACKPINK’s Lisa is set to take the stage as a solo artist at the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, making history as the first K-pop singer to perform at the prestigious event.

According to U.S. media outlets such as Variety on February 24, the Academy officially announced the lineup for the musical performances at the 97th Academy Awards. Lisa will be performing alongside rapper Doja Cat and British singer-songwriter RAYE during the celebratory stage.

This marks the first time a K-pop artist has been invited to perform at the Oscars, drawing immense attention. Although Lisa is of Thai nationality, she rose to fame as a member of BLACKPINK, a globally renowned K-pop idol group.

Additionally, this year’s Oscars stage will feature performances by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who star as Elphaba and Glinda in the upcoming Wicked musical adaptation.

The 97th Academy Awards is generating significant buzz, with highly anticipated films competing for top honors. Notable contenders include Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet, Dune: Part 2, the Broadway musical adaptation Wicked (which gained extra attention for casting Ariana Grande), and Demi Moore’s bold transformation in Substance. Among the films with the most nominations, Emilia Perez leads with 13 nods, while The Brutalist, which won three Golden Globe Awards, and Anora, the Palme d’Or winner at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, are also in the spotlight.

Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
