Stray Kids Wins Two Awards at Japan Gold Disc Awards Named 'Music Video of the Year' and 'Best 3 Albums' Winner
Stray Kids has secured two major wins at the Japan Gold Disc Awards.
According to the list of winners announced on March 12 via the official website of the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards, Stray Kids was honored with Music Video of the Year and Best 3 Albums.
Last year, Stray Kids won the Best 5 Singles category with their first Japanese EP, Social Path (feat. LiSA) / Super Bowl -Japanese ver.-. With this year’s achievement, the group has won awards at the Japan Gold Disc Awards for two consecutive years and a total of three times, further proving their strong presence in the Japanese market.
The Music Video of the Year award was given to their live Blu-ray, Stray Kids 2nd World Tour "MANIAC" ENCORE in JAPAN, released in February 2024. This Blu-ray captures the group’s solo concert held on February 26, 2023, at Kyocera Dome Osaka, as part of the encore leg of their MANIAC world tour in Japan.
As Stray Kids’ first-ever live Blu-ray since their official debut in Japan, it features a three-and-a-half-hour performance packed with hit songs such as MANIAC, Thunderous, God’s Menu, and Back Door, along with spontaneous member interactions and encore stages. Their first concert at a Japanese dome venue was an emotional milestone, with members expressing their gratitude and saying, "It feels surreal to stand on a stage we have dreamed of since childhood. We want to keep performing for a lifetime."
The group also won in the Best 3 Albums category with their second Japanese studio album, GIANT, released in November 2024. This album, arriving about one year and nine months after their first Japanese full-length album THE SOUND, gained massive attention and topped key local charts such as Oricon, Billboard Japan, and Tower Records. Notably, GIANT became the first album released by a K-pop artist in Japan in 2024 to claim the No.1 spot on the U.S. iTunes Top Albums chart, reaffirming Stray Kids' global influence.
The album’s title track, GIANT, showcases the group’s signature grand and powerful style. Excitement is building as the Korean version of GIANT will be featured as the title track of their upcoming digital single Mixtape : dominATE, set for release on March 21.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids is set to hold four concerts in Japan as part of their world tour Stray Kids World Tour <dominATE>, with performances scheduled on May 10-11 and May 17-18 at Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa. Having shed tears of joy at their first-ever dome concert in Japan last year, the group now returns as stadium-level artists, ready to deliver spectacular performances befitting their rising global status.
