Jimin of BTS has once again proven his global strength as a solo artist, even while serving in the military.
The American Music Awards (AMA) announced on May 23rd (local time) that Jimin has been nominated for the 'Favorite K-Pop Artist' category. Following his win in the 'K-POP SONG OF THE YEAR' category at the '2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards' in March with the title track 'Who' from his second solo album MUSE, this AMA nomination further demonstrates his popularity and influence in the United States.
The 'American Music Awards' is a prestigious awards ceremony that selects the most influential and iconic artists of the year, and is considered one of the three major music awards in the United States, alongside the 'Billboard Music Awards' and the 'Grammy Awards'.
Meanwhile, Jimin’s 'Who', released in July of last year, charted on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for 33 weeks, surpassing BTS’s ‘Dynamite’ (32 weeks) and setting a new record for the longest charting K-pop solo artist, as well as the longest charting record for both group and solo activities. Furthermore, he became the first K-pop solo artist to top the Billboard Artist Chart, becoming the only K-pop artist to top the chart as both a group and a solo artist. He subsequently achieved a total of 40 weeks on the chart, becoming the first and only K-pop solo artist to do so, solidifying his position as a world-renowned pop artist.
The results of the awards will be revealed on May 26th at 5 PM in Los Angeles, California, where the 'American Music Awards' will be held.
